Deciding to send a daily email for a full year was, and is, a gamble. Not to mention a large commitment. Do I think that everyone should send daily emails? No. I also don’t think many people would subscribe to more than 1-2 daily emails.
In January 2021 I finally said, let’s do it.
Annie’s Daily Dose was technically born in 2019 while driving in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. I’d wanted to do a daily email since 2018 and simply didn’t have the means (time & space). I’d known of people doing them in some sense; or doing a daily text. It appealed to me as a creator.
As I looked out the window and saw quite arguably the most beautiful water in the world, I thought, I have time now. So, I opened my notes app, and began typing little snippets – encouraging, a kick in the ass, a training tidbit. One by one. Then, they were just labeled “fitness emails” and “life emails” and “biz emails.”
Almost two years later, those would become “Annie’s Daily Dose.” So, what have I learned from emailing my list everyday of 2021 so far? I love it.
Creating higher frequency of content can actually just spreading out the same amount of content in more bite size pieces. I have a lot to say. People WILL not only open daily emails but look forward to it. In fact, on average, my DAILY DOSE has 2.5x the open rate of my weekly emails.
I’ve found another way to connect with my audience OFF of IG. I get responses, it’s interactive, people share it. Shoot, people make posts from them!
So, the social piece hasn’t actually been lost. You need to make content EASY and digestible for people. Value doesn’t = complex. It can be quite the opposite and doesn’t always take much. Encouragement goes a long way. Often times, people just need permission.
Starting your day with a positive or provoking thought can have exponential effects. Humor is one of my favorite gifts in humanity. And I’ll definitely do this for as long as I can. If you love the Daily Dose, THANK YOU. It’s been a joy to deliver.
