PART 1: ROAD TRIP FROM HELL
June 7, 2016. 4:00am. San Francisco, California.
“The car got broke into.”
Last summer Nathanael and I took a road trip. After three days in San Fran, we packed up to head to Vegas and Zion, walked downstairs to load the car, and Nate says to me, “the car got broke into.” Of course my stomach drops. Hi, I already only got 6 hours of sleep and we have a 13 hour drive ahead of us.
It doesn’t stop there.
Naturally I called my mom and filled her in on the situation. She asked me if I had renter’s insurance yet because anything IN the car is covered by renter’s insurance. Of course we didn’t have that. More on that in part 2…
After ghetto taping the window with duct tape and card board, we leave two hours late; hit Yosemite, the Sierra Nevadas, and Desert Valley…BEST DRIVE OF MY LIFE.
After a night in Vegas, getting the window fixed ($360.00 later), we head to Zion. Also BEAUTIFUL DRIVE. Our country is stunning.
We get settled in at Zion. Wake up the next morning to hike the Narrows. SO EXCITED. We stopped on the road to take a picture…wait for it…”Where is the camera?!”…I lost the camera. YUP. No photos from the first half of the trip {other than those I took on my phone for marketing – PRAISE JESUS}. Went back to the camp site, both of us tore apart the car, the tent, all the bags…NO CAMERA.
I ball my eyes out.
We hike the narrows and use Nate’s phone for photos because we can’t not have photos. DUH! You can only imagine what happens next…YES…His phone meets the narrows. Completely submerged. An accident of course. PHONE GOES BLACK, won’t charge. It’s done for.
I cry again.
Half-way through this road trip I literally just wanted to go home. Ever feel that way? Series of unfortunate events that just sucks? Now, I realize my situation is a total #firstworldproblem BUT, it sucked.
So why am I sharing this?
I want you write down 3 times in your life or fitness journey that SUCKED, I mean SUCKED. This is relative but that’s the point.
List your 3, reflect on them. And wait for parts 2 and 3.
Until then, keep keepin’ on and reflect.
Have grace for yourself & LET’S DO THIS!
P.S. I would love to hear your 3 reflections! Relate to me girl! Comment below.
