2017: YOU’RE ENOUGH

“You’re enough…” Isn’t that what we all want? To be enough?

I heard those words clear as day eight years ago.  

I was 19 years old, driving to school, two hours early to get a good parking spot for the day.  Hello Type A personality.

I had self-destructed about five days prior.  You know, one of those, “how am I going to tell my mom about this?” situations.  The one’s that leave you outside a friend’s house balling your eyes out with nowhere else to go and an unfathomable amount of fear in the pit of your stomach…That was me. 

In a state of autopilot, tears ran down my face as my heart was stuck by the words, “You’re enough.” 

In the midst of utter chaos and lack of knowing, those words did it for me. 

I was enough. I WAS ENOUGH!  I could move forward in that comforter. 

Maybe 2016 didn’t go your way.  Maybe you had goals you didn’t reach.  Maybe you didn’t grow as much as you wanted to. Maybe there were just a few more things you wanted to get done.

I am here to tell you, as you enter 2017, know that YOU ARE ENOUGH.  YOU are made to be YOU.  You are loved and you are worth the changes you want to make. You are worth the time it will take to make those changes. 

You are worth it all.  YOU ARE ENOUGH. 

I encourage you to SAY THAT OUT LOUD everyday this month. Say it while you’re driving, say it when you look in the mirror, say it on your lunch break. Say it before you go to bed.  Just SAY IT.  Tell yourself, proclaim, “I am enough.”

I also suggest that you WRITE IT somewhere. Write it on your mirror, on your dashboard, in your planner, make it your home screen on every device you own. 

Start this year leaning into self-belief.  I promise you, it’s more powerful that you might think.

SO, regardless of your situation today or any situation you may have had in 2016, embrace your “enough-ness” today.
