the blog
It’s 2010.
I’m 11% body fat and grippin’ n’ rippin’ weights. Focused only on breaking college weight room records, with no sense of what the shit I’m doing.
It’s 2012 and I *think* I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. I undergo meniscus surgery from wear and tear after 14 years of soccer and competitive cheer.
It’s 2013 and I’ve rehabbed my own knee, am playing with strength methods and heart rate training, only to get a lumbar disc herniation in 2014 from less than ideal squatting practices.
It’s 2015 and I’ve spent 12 months rebuilding my squat, with brand new perspective of how the body works as ONE UNIT.
It’s 2016 and I’m a fucking machine. I’ve put on mass, care far more about performance than aesthetics and I’m building my business at the same time.
It’s 2017 I’m ACTUALLY the strongest and fittest I’ve ever been. But my lack of balance in upper body push/pull lead to a shoulder issue – I contacted @activeliferx , and entered another rebuilding phase.
It’s 2018. My body took a back seat to my business, and we start full time world travels. I experience my body without a gym for the first time in 10 years.
It’s 2019. I’m weak, de-conditioned, and have five months to rebuild. It’s 2020 and travels + quarantine restrict me to at home workouts.
It’s 2021. I’ve had enough. In one sitting, I buy a full garage gym set up because I’m infuriated with my 2020 relationship to exercise. I need a barbell and squat rack. I’m ready. I’m ready to push. To explore. To accept where I’m at NOW, knowing what I’ve been capable of, without being upset that I’m no longer there.
I know what it takes to build. I’ve rebuilt this body, and it’s capabilities time and time again.
I am now 10 months into 2021 and finally feeling “strong & mobile” again. It didn’t happen after 2 weeks, even 2 months. It was daily choices to eat enough protein, and follow the program. Now, I’m looking forward to 2022 and beyond.
Be where you’re at. Be willing to work. Be grateful you can. Who’s with me?
Here’s a video to walk you through my 10-11 year movement story (pulled from IG so excuse the call to action):
