the blog
To my online entrepreneurs, consider this a spitfire poem. A collection of thoughts and realizations of a solo-preneur after six years building an online health and fitness business from literally nothing.
This is what nobody tells you about:
▪️Working for yourself
▪️Running an online business
▪️Using social media to do so.
The struggles on working for yourself, behind the scenes may include, but is not limited to these struggles:
👉🏼After hustling for YEARS, it’s VERY difficult to undo the hustle – to slow down.
👉🏼There is ALWAYS something you can be doing. Always. And it’s not easy to set boundaries and be done working for the day.
👉🏼Only other entrepreneurs will understand you. Literally no one else. And even then, you’ll still feel alone sometimes.
👉🏼Running a biz is one of the most experiences as a human.
👉🏼People will hold expectations of you. But only YOU run your life and your biz.
👉🏼You’ll always think you can do it better, but at some point, you’ll need to hire help if you want to grow.
👉🏼You will pay the government a lot of money…A LOT.
👉🏼Income and profit are not the same.
👉🏼You’ll make a lot of messes. But bless it, they’re yours. And you get to decide what to do about it. Not Jenny from accounting, or Bill from marketing. YOU. And you’ll learn to love that for you. I don’t have kids but I understand there can be a constant push and pull of guilt. ie: “I’m not working heard enough on my biz” – works on biz “I’m a bad mom and not spending enough time with my baby” etc.
👉🏼Entrepreneurship can be one of the greatest examples of freedom. Time freedom. Financial freedom. True wealth.

There are plenty of upsides to being self employed. But we don’t talk enough about the reality either. The daily grind that leads to the shiny stuff.
