Santiago Chile has many things to see. You can drive two hours from edge to edge and still be in the city. Most things to see happen to be within 20 minute of the city center. One of which is the Santa Lucia Park.
It is a refreshingly green park on a hill in the middle of the city. You can access it at several points and it costs nothing to visit. While there is a restaurant, it was not open when we visited.
There are paths winding all around and up and down the hill. There is no ONE way to go which makes for quite the little adventure. As I mentioned you can start at several entry points, but they all eventually lead to the focal point of Santa Lucia, a castle like structure on top of the hill with panoramic views of Santiago. The “hike” as they call it is not challenging, but the stairs are old, uneven and definitely sketchy. There is railing next to most of the staircases so not to worry.
You could rush to the top for the view 360 views, or take your time meandering around the terraces, pods, and structures along the way.
