To batch content simply means process of planning and creating content ahead of the time in which it will be used. You can batch Instagram posts, story videos or slides, youtube videos, podcast episodes, email marketing drips, and the list goes on.
Batching is largely how I personally, and many entrepreneurs, keep their businesses running flawlessly even when shit hits the fan. You see, when we are constantly creating on the spot, we risk “falling off” the wagon and lacking consistency.
As businesses and brands in the service industry, we begin our prospect and client experience by building trust through free content. If we put out consistent, dependable content, we help that trust building process. So, say hello to batching.
I bring you one of my best analogies as we head into the weekend – which is “content creation” time for a lot of you.
👉Batching: you, laying on a floaty, in a pool, under the sunshine.
👉Creating and attempting to post daily: you, in the middle of the ocean during a storm trying to keep your mouth above water. Did you feel that? Because I viscerally felt that last one.
I get that not everyone has eight hours to plan and create all content ahead of time. But I do encourage you to think about how you can use bite size batching. If you have an hour or two at a time, can you use one week to batch content for the month?
Content ideas/order in one sitting
Captions or video notes in another sitting
Actual graphic or video filming in another session?
When you create content ahead of time, it frees up brain space to do other important tasks day to day during the week. Rather than you having to put on your creativity hat EVERYDAY. It’s just not sustainable, and that’s understandable.
You don’t have to batch content. But you do need to do what works.
If you only post when you create content ahead of time…then that might need to be your bi weekly task. It’s a non-negotiable. If you feel frantic, guilty, and rushed when you create and post daily…consider creating content ahead of time – YES, the content and the captions.
I see all too often that entrepreneurs batch just the content or just the captions and then they are still frantically finishing work 3 minutes before their ideal posting time. STAAAWWWPP.GIVE BATCHING A GO – see how it feels. Do you batch content? Or nah?
